About Us
The Scottish Transgender Alliance was formed to address issues of prejudice and the lack of information and support for transgender people in Scotland. The Scottish Transgender Alliance membership is drawn from transgender individuals, community groups and allies engaged in developing work or delivering services for the benefit of transgender people throughout Scotland. We work to inform, equip and support transgender people, equality organisations, government policy makers and other employers and service providers to engage together to improve gender identity and gender reassignment equality, rights and inclusion in Scotland.

Funded by the Scottish Government Equality Unit, the Equality Network employs a Project Coordinator (since April 2007) and now also a Development Worker (to be recruited in Nov 2011) to organise the work of the Scottish Transgender Alliance and promote transgender rights and equality across Scotland.
Funded by the Big Lottery Fund, the Equality Network employed a Development Worker (from November 2009 to May 2011) to organise the work of the Scottish Transgender Alliance's Transition Support Project. The Transition Support Project is currently temporarily on hold.
Funded by the European Commission's Lifelong Learning Programme Grundtvig, the Scottish Transgender Alliance took part from August 2009 to August 2011 in a European Learning Partnership Project with the following transgender equality organisations:
- Transgender Europe (TGEU)
- Transgender Equality Network Ireland (TENI)
- Transgender Network Netherlands (TNN)
- TransInterQueer Berlin (TrIQ)

The work of the Scottish Transgender Alliance is carried out within the auspices of the Equality Network. The Equality Network promotes lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality and rights across Scotland and is a registered Scottish charity, SC037852, and a company limited by guarantee, SC220213.
