TRANS DOMESTIC ABUSE SURVEY

TRANS DOMESTIC ABUSE SURVEY

Tuesday 25 August 2009

The LGBT Domestic Abuse Project and the Scottish Transgender Alliance are working in partnership to conduct a high-profile and in-depth research project investigating transgender people's experiences of domestic abuse.  We want to get the views of as many transgender people as possible.

Please help us improve domestic abuse services for trans people by filling out our online survey at:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=bvwiFRk9RGDlap9SVHXWOA_3d_3d
or
http://tinyurl.com/trans-da-survey

By participating in this research, you will help us to look at:

  • Transgender people's experiences of domestic abuse and other forms of gender based violence
  • What barriers are faced by transgender people when they seek help for domestic abuse

We want to hear from ALL trans and gender variant people - from across a diverse spectrum of gender identity - including men and women with transsexual backgrounds and all kinds of cross-dressing, non-binary and gender-fluid people.

You can help by completing the online survey no matter where you live.
If you live in Scotland, then there is also the option of speaking in person to the researchers if you wish. To arrange an in-person research interview, please contact Graham Ritchie graham.ritchie@lgbtyouth.org.uk or Pamela Clocherty pamela.clocherty@lgbtyouth.org.uk.

We want to you to complete the online survey even if you think you've never experienced domestic abuse. It will take about 15 minutes to complete the survey if you've never experienced domestic abuse and about 30 minutes to complete if you have experienced domestic abuse.

The online survey must close on 14th September 2009 so please urgently spread the word to any transgender groups and individuals you know.

Thanks for helping.
