Description:
The organisers would like to invite papers on theory, methods and applied research, including work in progress, of relevance to the seminar theme as well as papers detailing development projects, campaigns and other aspects of practice relating to the LGBT communities. Presentations which address the Scottish context in some respect are particularly welcome.
This is the last seminar in the series and will include input from the Scottish Government regarding their recent response to the Hearts and Minds Agenda Group recommendations.
The day will also include a parallel session on LGBT ageing and later life
(see below).
Themes may include:
• Innovative approaches to researching everyday living and experiences
• Intimate and family relationships and networks
• The relation of academia, policy and practice to the day-to-day issues faced by LGBT groups and individuals
• Formal and informal networks of support, help and care within LGBT communities

We invite abstracts for presentations that will be 20 minutes in length.

Parallel session: LGBT Lives Symposium on Ageing
Raising the Profile of LGBT Ageing and Later Life
The organisers would like to invite papers for a parallel session devoted to exploring issues of LGBT ageing and later life. The session will include up to 10 short (ten minutes) papers that directly address LGBT ageing and later life. Contributors will be asked to provide written versions of their papers and these will be compiled in the form of a briefing to be circulated to relevant stakeholders in Scotland.
Papers may take any form including:
• Case-studies from practice or research
• ‘Think-pieces’ on how LGBT ageing is understood and responded to
• Summaries of research
• Reviews of the literature
• Methods used to investigate LGBT ageing and the challenges faced
Papers detailing work from across the UK (and beyond) are invited however the organisers particularly welcome contributions detailing work undertaken in Scotland or with direct relevance to the Scottish context.

Cost This event is free to attend.
The organisers are able to meet the travel and accommodation costs of up to 5 UK-based postgraduates per seminar and will help meet the expenses (up to £200) of one international postgraduate per seminar. Selection will be based on the relevance of proposed papers to the seminar theme. Please indicate on your abstract if you wish to be considered for funding.
