Scottish Transgender Alliance

Training

A core component of the remit of the Scottish Transgender Alliance is to provide training to public service providers in Scotland, to help mainstream transgender equality and rights.  To date, the Scottish Transgender Alliance Development Worker has provided training on good practice in relation to transgender employment and service provision issues for various managers in the following Scottish public services:

  • Local NHS Boards
  • NHS Scotland National Services
  • Local Councils
  • Police Forces
  • Fire Service
  • Prison Service

The Scottish Transgender Alliance also provides training on Transgender Inclusion to LGBT Organisations in Scotland and to Scottish Equality Organisations doing cross-strand equality work.

Over the course of 2007, the Scottish Transgender Alliance has developed its training provision to a high standard through specific collaborative work with the following partners:

  • ACPOS LGBT Reference Group
  • Fair For All – LGBT
  • HM Fire Service Inspectorate for Scotland
  • LGBT Centre for Health & Wellbeing in Edinburgh
  • LGBT Youth Scotland
  • Stonewall Scotland Diversity Champions
  • UNISON National LGBT Committee

Therefore, the Scottish Transgender Alliance is now the most appropriate organisation to provide high quality training on transgender employment and service provision issues, rights and good practice to public sector and voluntary sector organisations in Scotland.

The Scottish Transgender Alliance Development Worker can provide short training presentations, interactive one hour workshops, and half day or full day structured training events.  The details of the STA's new "Transgender Employment Rights Training" is available as a PDF in the Downloads box at the left of this webpage.  Bespoke training packages can also be designed on request, please contact us for more information.

The Scottish Transgender Alliance will consider requests for training from private sector companies but capacity constraints mean we may need to prioritise public sector and voluntary sector requests.  If we are unable to provide the training requested, then we will offer details of other organisations or freelance trainers that we endorse as capable of supplying good quality transgender training.
