European Conference Travel Scholarships for Transgender Volunteers Living in Scotland

The Scottish Transgender Alliance recognises the importance of strengthening transgender equality and human rights work and building community capacity by sharing good practice between trans organisations across Europe. Therefore, the Scottish Transgender Alliance provides a number of travel scholarships to enable transgender volunteers living in Scotland to attend the bi-annual European Transgender Conferences organised by Transgender Europe (TGEU).

Five Scottish Transgender Alliance volunteers (four trans women and one trans man) were given scholarships to attend the Second European Transgender Council along with one STA worker from 2nd to 4th May 2008 in Berlin, Germany.

Four Scottish Transgender Alliance volunteers
(two trans women, one trans man and one intersex person) were given scholarships to attend the Third European Transgender Council along with two STA workers and a Scottish Government civil servant from 30 Sept 2010 to 3 Oct 2010 in Malmo, Sweden.

COMING UP IN 2012:

The Fourth European Transgender Council will take place in Dublin from the 7th to 9th September 2012. At least six STA scholarships will be made available to enable transgender volunteers living in Scotland to attend. To be eligible for one of the scholarships, you need to meet the following two essential criteria:
1. You need to be currently living in Scotland;
2. You need to be currently doing unpaid activities furthering transgender equality, visibility or peer support.

The STA Travel Scholarship application process will be open during April and May 2012 with successful applicants informed in June 2012. Check this page again in April 2012 for more details.
