Every single child and young person should get the care that is right for them, at the time that is right for them. We don’t believe that that is currently possible for trans children and young people in Scotland. It is absolute vital that any changes to children and young people’s services in Scotland result in services that meet the needs of each and every one of them.

We think that the Scottish Government and NHS Scotland must urgently work together to make sure that no child or young person is unable to access the care they need, when they need it. And we intend to keep making that case, as often as we can and wherever we can. Read more:
On July 5th, the Chief Medical Officer’s Directorate published the “Cass Review – Implications for Scotland: findings report”
On July 19th, we wrote to the Chief Medical Officer and the Minister for Public Health and Women’s Health alongside colleagues from LGBT Youth Scotland, LGBT Health and Wellbeing and LEAP Sports to outline our views on the report, and what we think are key considerations going forward to make sure that every single child and young person in Scotland – including trans, gender diverse and gender questioning children and young people – get the care they need when they need it.

On October 29th, the Chief Medical Officer, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, and Chief Pharmaceutical Officer gave evidence to the Health, Social Care and Sport Committee about the future of gender identity services for children and young people.
